Sort of. At least we're working our way towards it anyhow!
For the last week Ashley has only been wearing diapers when we leave the house, otherwise she cruises about in her shirt and undies. I spend the day sounding like a broken record: "Ashley, tell Mommy when you have to go potty. I don't want you going potty in your undies." I say it so often during the daytime that I think I woke myself up mumbling it in my sleep. But it's either spend my time repeating myself or spend my time cleaning up accidents, and I much prefer the former.
Starting yesterday Ashley voluntarily used the potty a few times without being prompted, which made me happy considering I'd already cleaned up after 3 accidents. But then she totally wowed me last night when she actually pooped in the potty. This was a first and really helped reassure me and give me the extra push I needed to be consistent with her potty training (but I was still pretty ooged out when it came to cleaning her and the potty up!).
So if you are planning a visit to our red house on the hill, be forewarned: there could very well be a pile of wet undies in the laundry room, spots drying on the carpet and a 1/2 naked midget running about. Not to mention my constant "Ashley, tell Mommy..." reminder ringing in your ears.
So far here is what I've learned: potty training is tedious, time consuming and sometimes nasty work, but in the end it will be worth it. And I'm not gonna lie - Ashley gets a reward when she uses the potty (accolades, high fives, sometimes stickers, sometimes candies), and so do I. I figure I've earned my treats just as much as she has! I only hope she gets trained soon or else my hiny is going to get even bigger...
