Baaaa

Every year the OSU Sheep Barns open their doors for a week and invite the public to come in and viewing lambing season. This year they have about 50 ewes lambing and it really is kind of cool for people to have the opportunity to experience it. I figured Ashley would enjoy seeing the sheep and lamps, and I admit I was secretly hoping to catch a ewe delivering.
The lambs are so precious. If only they could do something about the smell...

Barn Goddess
Hey, it's hay!
...technically it's alfalfa but we didn't want to ruin her fun...
Come here Mama and let me pat your nose
...about 1/2 second after this shot was taken that ewe let out a loud BAA and Ashley jumped up 5 feet and back 10!
I love ewe
Mommy got her wish - the sheep laying on her side with the bulge in her midsection was in hard labor. Even though we didn't see her deliver, we got to watch that bulge move all around and her belly make all sorts of interesting shapes. Poor thing needed an epidural.
Future sheep farmers
...Ha ha ha. Never.

A fresh lamb, about a day old. So cute at this stage and then they grow up...
Taking it all in
