5 months and counting

Yowsa! Our little Natty Kat is 5 months old! FIVE MONTHS! That's just unbelievable to me. At this point she's back to sleeping through the night (thank goodness!), weighs between 15 and 16 pounds, loves to talk, hold her toys, pull Midget's hair and blow raspberries. She has started wearing size 6 month clothes and rocks size 3 diapers even though weight-wise she should be in 2's. Just like Ashley, Natalie is serious about being tall, so those little size 2's leaves too much baby plumber's crack which is an open invitation to up-the-back poop blowouts (and no one wants to see (or smell!) that). She's a master at rolling and is trying WAY too hard to figure out the mechanics of crawling. There is no way we're anywhere near ready for two mobile little people.
She's got, what appears to be, a clogged/blocked tear duct in her left eye. We're told by the experts that they aren't painful (unless it gets infected) even though it makes her eye look icky. Her eye lashes get goobed/cemented together and she creates massive, green eye boogers 1/2 the size of her eyeball. Her pediatrician has called in an eye drop medication for her (since it seems to be getting worse and not better), so hopefully that will help clear it up. But even through the green goobies, her big ol' baby blues still sparkle and shine!

Natalie has been enjoying rice cereal for a while now, so last night we upped the ante and introduced sweet potatoes to her diet. After a near-miss choking episode, I gladly handed off the spoon to Jake, who expertly passed it along to Kathy. From what I could tell she seemed to enjoy it. Either that or she was just too hungry to care. Either way, now that she's started 'solids', it's just one more visual reminder that our second born is no longer our newborn.

It's not a great picture, but it's the best Mommy could get - thanks for dinner Grandma!
