You just never know what you're going to get with Midget. On one hand she's super eager and excited to visit the dentist, get her teeth cleaned, and have pictures taken. But get her into the seat, bib and safety glasses on, and she's suddenly singing a different tune. Siiiigh. But at least she keeps me on my toes.
Let's do this thing! Chewing up her tarter tablet to see just how well Mommy brushes her teeth Turns out I don't do too bad. That being said, I cannot wait for the age/stage when she's able to brush her own chompers! Not able to convince Midget to get Xrays taken, she opted for a painting of silver nitrate on her teeth instead Diagnosis? Healthy pearls for a 4 year old!
Thanks to some wonderful friends Jake and I got the opportunity to take Ashley to Disney's Phineas and Ferb Live. This was the first time we'd ever done a kids show with Midget, and if she has anything to say about it, it won't be the last! She had such a great time watching the show and hanging out with her little friends. We're so thankful for the Sitton family and their generosity!
Tucked between her fave buddies Chase and James (and yes, Baby Rosie got to join the party, too) Waiting in line for her Perry cotton candy Making memories with Midget Hey Ashley, where's Perry? Sorry, can't get this to load the correct way - but some may say this way looks better anyhow Midget was pretty spent by the end of the show
Most of the time I write things down on the blog so that I won't ever forget. In case you didn't know, not that it matters, but I use this place as the girl's baby books. It's a lot easier for me to sit here and type up stories, mostly because I stink at spelling and Blogger has automatic spell check. But also because I seem to create better with a keyboard than with a pen and paper. Dude. What can I say? It's my generation. That being said, there are some things that I won't ever forget, even without writing them here. Not because I have an impeccable memory, but because Ashley won't let me forget. About 3 months ago she woke around 1:30 in the morning and was absolutely convinced, without a doubt, that it had snowed in her room. I spent a good 30 minutes desperately trying to get her back to sleep, but it was useless. Midget just *knew* it had snowed *in*her*room*. Period. And NO amount of me trying to convince her otherwise was going to work. Snow. In her room. Without a doubt. Believe it. This must be some incredible dream because since that original snow discovery, it has snowed in her room no less than 5 times. And each time it does, she's all too eager to pull me out of bed and into her room to show me just were the fluffy white stuff has landed. I don't understand it. And I suppose I wasn't made to. The fact that it cannot snow inside is a simple enough concept for me to grasp. But it isn't my room. And obviously it isn't my imagination. The last occurrence of bedroom snow (about 2 mornings ago) got me to thinking: how wonderful life must be when you believe, wholeheartedly, in something that the rest of the world knows is impossible. And what happened that I ever stopped believing? So when Ashley drug me into her room to show me the snow, I eagerly accepted the invitation. She had me lay on her bed so she could turn out the light, because it turns out it only ever snows at nighttime when the lights are off (something I wouldn't have know had I not taken a minute to believe like I was 4 years old again). And you'll never guess what happened when she turned off the lights and slid into bed next to me? I saw the snow. Such beautiful snow. And my heart remembered what it was like to believe like a 4 year old again. And who cares that it wasn't snow in the traditional sense? Who am I to judge? Turns out the way the lights play through her blinds and reflect onto the wall makes it look like teeny tiny little flakes of snow. Snuggling in bed next to Ashley, watching the flakes dance on the wall, I felt something incredible. I was reminded how important it is to believe, even in something that everyone tells you is impossible. There are plenty of reasons I'm thankful for Ashley, but right now I'm most thankful that she made me open my mind to the possibility of anything. It's no joke, people, these kiddos will teach you *so* much if you're smart enough to learn. This is one story I didn't need to blog to remember; I'm certain my imagination, as well as my heart, will never be the same.
We were lucky enough to wake up a few mornings in a row to the fluffy white stuff. If there's one thing we love at our house, it's the fluffy white stuff! Especially the kind that hangs around for a while. Even though this stuff was gone by the afternoon, we still took every opportunity to get out in it, make snow angels, throw snow balls and build snowmen. Oh how we wish we could get the fluffy white stuff more often!
Our first morning - the minis refused to sit still and insisted on getting outside, stat! Later that day, after it had melted off, it started up again. Shouts of mini joy ensued. Love the way it feels when they land on our noses The next morning we hit the road for some fluffy white stuff exploration (technically we drove 1/2 mile up the hill, past our house, but that doesn't sound as exciting) and were delighted to see we'd be the first to make tracks on this road The scene at our place Delighted minis Mini snowball fight - the best kind there is! Midget getting started on her Frosty Frosty's getting a bigger belly Spunky hanging out with Frosty's bottom half while Tissy's off working on his topper Frosty getting a new do courtesy of a nearby fir tree The finished product - one very silly looking, but extremely loved, Frosty What I love about this pic: Ashley's over-the-top excitement Natty's handful of snow, which she told me was her snack, and the way she's eye-balling Midget to make sure Tissy's fingers stay off her tasty goods Mama check-in Love my snow bunny
I recently got my hands on the pictures Angie captured at Christmas with her camera. It's always fun to me to leaf through others shots. Turns out I'm not the only one that's shutter-happy!
No wonder our girls are so adorable - they come from good stock Ashley's obsession with Daisy continues Grandma Marilyn showing Natty Kat her snow globe PS Looks like Grandma Marilyn remembers what happened with Natty's Frosty snow globe and is holding hers tightly :) Grandma Kathy and her adorable granddaughters Don't worry, that's a fake candle Hurry and document this; Ashley without Daisy! If the minis get their pics taken under the tree, Mama does too! Precious little minis So happy Angie captured this shot! Midget, MD Horsey rides around the living room
This year we did low-key New Years Eve. A little food (well a lot, but who's measuring?), a little family, a little video gaming. Absolute perfect way to saw Welcome 2012!
Not entirely sure what's going on here, but totally loving Shaun's face Hey Andy. Don't just stand there, bust a move. Celebrating with Mini #1. I tried to make '12' with our fingers - turns out I made a really awkward '21' instead Confession - I just realized this picture is from the next night when everyone came over to play Kinect. But I had to share because, well look at it. Who wouldn't want to share? The mini's showing Aunt Katie and Aunt Lindsay the proper way to Kinect ski While the adults busied themselves with plenty of video gaming, Asharoo kept busy with her paints Winner! Winner! Yours truly took first in the ski competition. Oh yeah, believe it. I'm just that good.
I took the liberty of capturing a little video of the girls cruising around the shop on their bikes. These minis crack me up! In addition to Ashley yelling "YAY! I'm doing it, Mommy!", I've got to watch my feet as Speed Demon Natalie goes for broke. Aww. This is the life. Click here
There's no doubt about it, these girls are bright spots in my life. Now their attire can more better match their personalities! PS Thanks to their Aunt Pam for sending these adorable threads So stinking adorable I could just eat her up! Colorful and adorable minis Totally loving Spunky's hair (and jealous, too)
Today's post is brought to you by the letter P. The other afternoon when I went to get Natty Kat from her crib after her nap, I walked into her room and was immediately struck with the smell of poop. As much as I didn't want to be smelling it, there was no doubt it was there. Poop. I was surprised to see Natty, stripped from the waist down, holding her Elmo doll upside-down. I asked her what was going on and she was eager to tell me "Elmo pooped, Natty bed. Elmo pooped! Eww! POOP!" You've got to be kidding me? But I played along. I said, "Did Elmo poop in your bed, Natalie?" To which Natalie spread Elmo's red, furry little monster legs apart and said "Yes! See! Elmo pooped, Natty bed!" I wish I were making this up. Upon further investigation I found the massive pile that was causing my nose to sting and eyes to water. A rather large, rather smelly, rather poopy pile o' turds in the corner of the bed, sitting next to a perfectly clean diaper. Natty was all to quick to ask "See, Mommy? Elmo pooped, Natty's bed!" Dang you, Elmo. Where you raised in a barn or something? What are they teaching you at 123 Sesame Street? There was a silver lining of sorts that saved me from tearing Elmo into shreds: much like my own Spunky, it would appear Elmo poops are hard, dry little rabbit turds that are easy peasy to clean up. Such a coincidence that both of those guys have identical turds. What are the odds?
We met in 2001 and became husband and wife just 3 years later. Owners of Irate Diesel Performance, Jake is busy building a successful business and Riane is a proud Stay-At-Home Mom. Ashley kicked off our Triple Crown in December 2007. Natalie became our second in the series in December 2009. And Keely became our third jewel in the crown in September 2012. We're living the dream, surrounded by craziness and love.
