Pumpkins in the pouring rain

Wednesday afternoon Natty, Keely and I braved the wind and rain to visit the pumpkin patch with Natty's class. As the rain was literally coming down in buckets and we stepped outside to take Ash to school, a gust of wind came up and nearly knocked Natty over. She looked at me and said "Ummmm I don't really wanna go to the pumpkin patch today." I told her that would be okay, but she needed to understand that her classmates would be going and they'd probably take pictures and talk about it the next day at school. Natty thought about it and replied that she would "think about it and let me know". When it came time to go Natty found me and said "Mama, let's go to the pumpkin patch but only like quick enough to get a pumpkin and then leave. So I'm thinking like 10 minutes, okay?"
Oy this kid.

Tip-toeing through the pumpkin patch

After surveying every pumpkin in the patch, Natty finally decided on one....

...which happened to be as far away from the hayride as possible. The hayride is over behind those trees, and the pumpkin I'm pointing to is the one Natty picked. We were the last ones back to the hayride; most people picked immediately and got back under cover. But not my little pumpkin.
