Earlier today I felt what I am absolutely calling baby movement. I've felt what could possibly be baby a few times in the past week to 10 days, but since I'm just over 13 weeks, I figured it was still early. But after the thwap I got earlier today, I am calling 100%, without-a-doubt, ain't no mistaken it, baby.
More pictures that Jake salvaged from the damaged hard drive. I tell you, there isn't much Jake can't do! During our snow storm back in January, Katie and Andy brought Wyatt out to experience the white stuff with his cousins. Now I'm not totally fluent in Wyatt, but if his wrinkled up nose and general look of disgust means anything, I'd say he wasn't nearly as impressed with the snow as his cousins were! WHAT have you done to me, Mommy? Hey. Who turned out the lights? PS Notice how trained the minis are - standing and smiling for the camera. Don't worry, Wyatt. I'll get to you eventually. Maybe it's not so bad after all? Welcome to the wonderful world of winter, Wyatt!
I'm just now getting around to sharing more picture of the great January snowstorm of 2012. Oooh. Makes it sound like we had a blizzard, huh? Truth be told it was a few inches every morning for 2 or 3 mornings. Enough to give the minis something to construct a snowman, throw a snowball and make a snow angel. Me? I could have done with inches on inches on inches, and I bet the minis would happily go along with it. Too bad Mother Nature didn't dump on us like Jake and I hoped she would.
This pic was taken about 7 minutes after the girls woke up and realized snow had fallen One ecstatic Midget Daddy's too balla to be bothered with gloves Working on building up Frosty Using the back deck snow to construct their snowman "Mommy, when will it snow again so I can catch snow on my tongue?" Energy running on LOW - must eat breakfast STAT If there's one thing I require on snow days, it's a family foto Rocking some adorably puffy snow gear King of the mountain! The view from here Time to warm up with hot cocoa - a snowy morning must
Well I guess at this point the making has been done and now we're onto baby growing. And boy (or girl!) is this baby growing! I am sitting comfortably at 13 weeks preggo and am happy to announce I still do not require any special clothing. One of the many perks of being tall is plenty of torso to hide a baby in. Speaking of being tall, at my appointment this morning I measured up to 5'7.25'' inches. This absolutely cannot be correct as we ALL know I'm a full 5'7.75'' inches. I never made it to 5'8'', but darn I was close. 1/4'' away; NOT 3/4''. I'd better have them check me again at my next appointment. Accuracy first. Other things we learned at my appointment were my weight (as if I'd actually share that here), my blood pressure (low and healthy thankyouverymuch) and Thirdling's heartbeat (strong at 150/160 bpm). I absolutely cannot stress enough how incredible it is to hear your child's heart beating away. *Every*single*time* we've heard our baby's heartbeat on the Doppler, it's impossible not to smile and just be grateful to God for the blessing you've been given. Even Jake was Sir Grins-a-lot as we heard the steady swooshing of Thirdlings little ticker pumping away. One thing I was informed of today was the new Gestational Diabetes (GD) testing standards. Used to be every woman would undergo a 1 hour test (drink glucose, blood draw, wait 1 hour, second blood draw); if you failed then you'd have to head back for a 3 hour test, which required even more poking. Apparently this is the old school method of GD testing. These days it's a 2 hour test for everyone and you either pass or fail. This means you drink glucose, blood draw, wait 1 hour, second blood draw, wait 1 hour, THIRD blood draw. And just in case you missed that, that's THREE blood draws. I told the doc today while I wouldn't outright refuse the test, I was likely going to be crabby and irritable. Of course I'm still months away from the test, which only gives me more time to dwell and stew on it. Three blood draws. Hmpf. And last but not least, I learned today that not only do I have a sinus infection, but also the beginnings of an ear infection. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?? Wonder if Natty will let me borrow her tubes? I've been set up with a 10-day dose of antibiotics and am hopeful their goodness with kick in soon. I can handle a lot, but the constant headache and pressure is about to do me in. All-in-all today's appointment was a success. Jake even managed to get me giggling during my blood draw (normal, routine pregnancy panel screen). Not the best given there was a giant needle sticking out of my arm, but nice nonetheless considering there was a giant needle sticking out of my arm. Let the baby growing commence!
So I was just working on updating the blog with more pictures and stories. You know, more of what I've been doing for the last 3 years. But instead of things uploading without a glitch, I get giant error messages flashing all over the screen. It would appear I've reached the maximum gigabite, tilabite, quadrobite, some sort of 'bite' allowed for picture upload. For serious? But fear not dear Greatest Thing readers - I was able to purchase extra storage space. I suppose this means I should seriously start looking into printing up the blog into a book to clear up any future space issues. Either that or stop sharing pictures. And we all know the likelihood of that happening.
A while back I posted a little diddy and some pics about the Shrine Installation we attended back in January. That was around the time our computer at home was taking a dive and when I tried to get my pictures off of the damaged hard drive, it only gave me a few of them. Boy was a ticked. So imagine my happiness when Jake swooped in and saved the day by saving all of the pics that got left behind. That Jake. What a guy!
Sister shot Guess who's excited about key lime pie? Feeling like a giant pile of you-know-what but still having a great time with the fam PS Is it just me or do I look like I'm punching myself in the chin? That's some right-hook I've got. Yes that lady and gentleman are being 'carried' in on a chariot. Approximately .36901 seconds after I captured this shot, the chariot tongue snapped and the entire thing went down. Including that lady and her gentleman. 1 word: awesome. PS And no, I have *no* idea what the significance of the chariot was. Near as I can tell they were just riding in it for my pure enjoyment. While we partied downstairs, the girls had supervised playtime upstairs with an entire room full of people ready, willing and able to entertain. They were having such a great time, I had to promise Nana and Papa hugs and kisses in order to persuade them to leave.
...and through the woods, to Nana and Poppie's house we go. Recently we took a trip to Nana and Poppie's house to visit Aunt Joan who was visiting from Georgia. It's always fun to get to visit with family we don't see nearly often enough. It's also fun when those family members come from the deep south and have thick southern accents dripping with sentiments such as ya'll. :) You could say it doesn't take much to entertain me, and you wouldn't be far from the truth.
Nana posing with sister Joan Notice Ashley's ear-to-ear grin? Is it obvious I've been training her to smile when she sees me assume the camera position? When do we EAT? Making sure she gets every last drop The ladies of the afternoon PS I'm not sure what Dad did when he took this shot - seems like he had his hand over the flash or something? Come on, Dad! Left-to-Right: Sissie, Aunt Joan, Nana, Natty Kat, Mom, Me and Midget Playtime with Papa - playing with the wooden blocks all of us grandkids played with growing up which were made by Nana and Aunt Joan's brother, Ken. Talk about family history! Welcome to Salon de' Ashley Notice how Nana's about to nod off? Happens every time your brush her hair! It took Poppie and Amburger both to capture Natty long enough to put her socks on Curling up with Papa and a cellphone game Happy to be cuddling with their Poppie
