There was an Old Keely...

There was an old Keely,
who her coat always wore.
If anyone tried to hide it,
she'd pound on the closet door.
You could not deny her,
of her overcoat dream.
She's nearly 15 months old,
but going on 90 it seems.

Keely's latest thing is wearing her coat all.the.time. At first it was cute, but now it's getting to be bothersome. And don't even *suggest* removing it. I made that mistake and she shrieked, turned on her heels and ran away as quick as her pocket-person legs would take her.
Here's a quick video of her letting me know it's coat time. Click (here).

Party girl!

Back in August we had a birthday celebration for Sissie as she rang in year #36. Homemade ice cream, grilling and goodness. Not a bad way to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Note to self: when Mom wrote down her homemade ice cream recipe, she already doubled it. So when prepping homemade ice cream do not double the recipe on the card because in all actuality you're quadrupling it. And that, folks, makes a lot of homemade ice cream.
Mm! Mm! Mm!
Natty Kat deemed herself in charge of the ice and rock salt

Fun-fillled Friday

Lately Ashley has been, what some might call, sassy.
I certainly call it that.
I'm not sure if she's learning attitude from friends at school or what. But I do know that it stops HERE. So on Friday when she attempted to argue with me over having a certain snack, she promptly got sent to her room. I wasn't aware she had taken her apple with her (which is the one I was offering but not the one she wanted), but I quickly figured it out when she came busting into Keely's room (whom I was trying to get down for a nap), look of fright on her face, apple rolling on the ground behind her and blood dripping out of her mouth.
Apparently a loose tooth and an apple make for a good combo.
Ash walks a fine line between total freak-out and concerned but not dramatic when she's injured.
And loss of tooth is no different.
I took her to the bathroom, made a big deal about how exciting it was to *finally* loose the tooth (it's been wiggly for nearly 8 weeks) and how the Tooth Fairy would be making a visit that evening.
Ash was still borderline meltdown, but managed to hold it together as long as the blood didn't pool too much.
After she got all cleaned up, I stuck her newly freed tooth in a baggie and let her walk around and show it off, which seemed to relax her even more. After everyone on the property got to witness her tooth and her latest window, I packed her and Natty Kat up for their hair trimming appointment, which afforded Ash an entirely new crowd to show her gaping hole to.
It was certainly a fun-filled Friday, even if there were a few tears, some sass and 5 year old attitude.

Freak out or celebrate? Ash hasn't decided yet.
Getting her cleaned up
Natty Kat was excited to hear the Tooth Fairy would be paying Tissy a visit
That makes tooth #2 for my oldest delight
Ready to celebrate her new window
After the tooth excitement died down, it was hair trimming time

Not even the slightest bit of nerves or uncertainty
I stood close by to ensure she only lost about 1/2''
Best way to get Natty to hold still? Suckers.
All trimmed and sparkled
Big girls
Good bye dry ends, hello gorgeous!

Amity Truck Show and Pulls

During the month of August our town hosts a car/truck show and truck pull. It's a pretty big deal for such a small town; waxed and polished paint, all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast and square dancers galore.
Yeah. We know how to do it here in Amity.

Hard to believe this is the same '68 Chevy Jake had when we were first married - I remember driving it when it was still green, AC not hooked up and no working radio
Don did such a great job restoring such a great truck
There was a gentleman at the car show that was actually allowing children to crawl through his car - say whaaa?
Best pic I could get of the cousins
Hanging out at the pulls with Aunt Katie
So much fun to watch Don pull the Chevy
Not too bad for a gasser!
